The Marine Cargo and Specie team has an established market presence, having been underwriting in London for over 25 years. The present team has developed the account to the extent that a leading position is taken on some 40% of the business written.

We have a diverse and extensive knowledge of the business with specialist expertise in Commodities, Petrochemicals, Projects, Fine Art, Vault Risks and Precious Metals. The focus is very much on achieving a high level of continuity and long term commitment with all our clients.

In line with the development of the syndicate a portfolio of Marine Cargo War and Cargo War on Land is being established for 2011.

The portfolio consists of both direct and reinsurance business with proportional treaties and excess of loss reporters written in selected territories. This allows us to write a spread of business, both geographically and in terms of risk type, whilst maintaining high underwriting standards through local knowledge and contact with clients & cedants.

This contact with client and cedant is seen as key and is backed by a comprehensive travel programme.

The principal distribution channel is through regulated Lloyd’s brokers within the London subscription market.
